As part of the Rockwatch week in Dorset this year children and parents visited the DIGS sites at Red Lane Abbotsbury and Rocket Quarry, Portesham.

We had a successful visit to Rockpit Farm today with eight members of DIGS helping.

We made good progress in around three hours and the site is now in a good state.

We also found some fossils from the earliest part of the Chalk including the ammonites Schloenbachia, Scaphites and Turrilites as well as Terebratula (brachiopods) and irregular echinoids.

We had a successful session at Red Lane, Abbotsbury this week especially as the sun shone and the small team of DIGS members (6) did a great job.
