Conservation Word at Dorchester Road, Upwey

On 14 June some members of the DIGS group carried out conservation work at the Dorchester Road, Upwey cutting section.

This is not a DIGS site but part of the Bincombe SSSI. The rock was exposed during the construction of the Weymouth Relief Road (A354) prior to the 2012 Olympics.

This is an important site as it exposes the boundary between the Jurassic and the Cretaceous  (Portland and Purbeck Beds up to the overlying Wealden Beds).
