On 14June some members of the DIGS group carried out conservation work at the Dorchester Road, Upwey cutting section.
This is not a DIGS site but part of the Bincombe SSSI. The rock was exposed during the construction of the Weymouth Relief Road (A354) prior to the 2012 Olympics.
This is an important site as it exposes the boundary between the Jurassic and the Cretaceous (Portland and Purbeck Beds up to the overlying Wealden Beds).

Some members visited our site at Vinney Cross on the A35 east of Bridport on 3rd May.
We cleared some encroaching brambles and weeds. Some nice examples of fossils were found in this good exposure of the Inferior Oolite very different to that seen between Burton Bradstock and West Bay.
