On Sunday 7 September a group of geologists from DIGS, DGAG, visitors from the Irish Geologists’ Association and the Open University Geological Society met at Crack Lane, Langton Matravers and spent the morning clearing the rock faces at the former quarry and clearing vegetation improving access.
In the afternoon we visited Keats’ Quarry and viewed the dinosaur footprints.
New interpretation boards have been located at the DIGS site at Portesham Farm. The boards were designed by one of our members and printed by Lamart in Dorchester.
Portesham Farm is part of one of our geological walks accessible through our ‘Beneath our Feet’ walks leaflets.
We carried out conservation sessions at our Hardown Hill site, Morecombelake in July and August and cleared the rock face. In collaboration with the Hardown Society and the National Trust we hope to place an information board on the site in due course.
